JEFF'S BIOGRAPHY
AS A TEACHER: Since 1978, Jeff has conducted his own in-demand workshops in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Santa Barbara, and Los Angeles. He has taught acting and voice at York University, the University of Toronto, the National Theater School of Canada, and at the Dome Theater School. His teaching is rooted in strong personal training (Uta Hagen, Carol Rosenfeld, Roger Stevens, Kurt Reis, Joseph Chaikin), with an eclectic professional background in theater, film, and television. Jeff Cohen is currently voice consultant for the ERIC MORRIS, and FEINSTEIN-TUERPE Studios. AS A WRITER: Jeff continues to have a successful career in writing for television and film, garnering twenty-two international awards, with over one hundred hours of produced work. He's been head writer/producer on such highly successful series as DANGER BAY, MOM P.I., KURT VONNEGUT'S MONKEY HOUSE, DEAD MAN'S GUN , MYTHQUEST, LIGHTNING FORCE, THE HUNGER, HIGHER GROUND , and many others. He's written movies of the week: AVALANCHE for FOX and ROOKIES for HBO. Current feature projects in development include: THE SMOKING MAN , and UNDERGROUND INFERNO for Lions Gate Entertainment. AS AN ACTOR: In film, Jeff has played principal roles in THE CLASS OF '44 , THE MAN IN 5A (with George Segal), and SLEEPING WITH STRANGERS . On CBC, he starred in IT'S ONLY A GAME . For three years, he hosted the CBC children's series, DROP IN , performed several principal roles on radio for CBC STAGE, including the award-winning drama, A TINKER'S DAMN , and as young Pablo in NERUDA . On stage, Jeff has performed in Harold Pinter's THE COLLECTION and VOICES FROM THE HOLOCAUST ; Matt in THE FANTASTICKS and in the Canadian premiere of VIET ROCK . Recent TV and film roles include: THE COMMISH, COBRA , and MADISON . AS A DIRECTOR: Jeff is the co-founder and artistic director of SKYLIGHT THEATER, Canada's only professional outdoor theater. For the company's inaugural production, he directed his own adaptation of THE LITTLE PRINCE , to critical acclaim. He was the artistic director of the Mariposa Festival of Fine Arts. Jeff has directed extensively at universities and conservatories. Plays include: THE TEMPEST at the National Theatre School of Canada , THE CRUCIBLE at the Dome Theater School and at Queen's University, and Herb Gardner's THIEVES for Equity Showcase Theatre in Toronto. Recently, he directed the award-winning television mini-series, EYE LEVEL .
